Abstract:
Friction Pendulum System (FPS) is applied to single-layer spherical lattice shells to investigate its seismic isolation performance. The governing equations for the structure with FPS are developed. The effectiveness of the FPS is examined by analyzing the characteristics of seismic responses, which are induced by different intensity of ground motions. It is shown that nodal acceleration and element axial forces of the structure are effectively mitigated. Meanwhile, the isolation effectiveness is going to be better under intenser ground motions.
