Abstract:

The authors pointed out that the seismic design in many countries is based on the response spectra theory and compared our country's code for seismic design (GB50011 - 2001) with ISO 3010:2001 (E) and American's code respectively on the factors of earthquake effect. They found that our country's code was defective in some way, and needed to be amended incessantly. The authors put forward that it is maybe a better way to substitute the earthquake intensity by the parameters of earthquake ground motion in seismic design.
