Abstract:

In this paper, firstly, shaped short pier shear wall is selected to research, which is unsubstantial part in short pier shear wall structural system. Secondly, based upon the experimental study on the seismic behavior of two 1/2 scale short pier walls with different forms of concealed bracings, the effects of concealed bracings on the bearing capacity, stiffness and its attenuation, ductility, hysteresis property, energy dissipation and failure phenomena of these two short pier shear walls are discussed. Thirdly, the mechanical models and the formulas of bearing capacity are established, and the results from the formulas and those from experiment are in good agreement.
