Micromagnetic and quantitative prediction of yield strength and tensile strength in DP590 steels based on ReliefF plus Clustering feature selection method SCIE

Abstract :

The correlation between multiple patterns of micromagnetic signatures and the mechanical properties (yield strength (Rp) and tensile strength (Rm) of high-strength steel (referred to as DP590 steel in Chinese standards) was investigated in this study. Feedforward neural network (FF-NN) models with carefully selected magnetic features as input nodes were established for quantitative prediction of yield strength and tensile strength. The accuracy FF-NN models highly relied on the quality of calibration specimens and the way of selecting magnetic features. The variations of the measured target properties were used to evaluate the quality of the calibration specimens. The specimens with similar yield strength (or tensile strength) were merged to share the same target properties in the model training process. The results demonstrated that merging proper target properties (label) could improve the performance of the models in quantitative prediction of yield strength and tensile strength in DP590 steels. In addition, the performances of FF-NN models combined with the algorithms of ReliefF and ReliefF + clustering were evaluated. The comparison results proved that the FF-NN models employing input nodes selection strategy of ReliefF + clustering realized the advantages of smaller dimensions of input nodes, less training time consumption at the cost of slight accuracy reduction.

Abstract :

Ferromagnetic components are susceptible to various defects after prolonged service. The defects generated in these components are diverse and exhibit irregular orientation, which may impede comprehensive defect examination using a single magnetic testing method. This paper proposes a novel magnetic measurement sensor that integrates the principles of magnetic flux leakage (MFL) and magnetic field disturbance (MFD). The combined theory is analyzed and validated through the utilization of finite element method (FEM) simulations as well as experimental investigations. By comparing simulation results with experimental data, the composite nature of the signal acquired beneath a magnetic bridge is convincingly demonstrated. In comparison to conventional MFL and MFD methods, this innovative sensor exhibits superior defect detection performance for varying angles and widths, while also addressing some inherent limitations associated with MFL and MFD principles.

Excitation of Odd Harmonics of SH0 Mode Ultrasonic Guided Waves Using Magnetostriction-Based EMAT: Theoretical Modeling SCIE

Abstract :

Magnetostriction-based electromagnetic acoustic transducer (M-EMAT) is a promising tool for generating fundamental shear-horizontal (SH0) mode guided waves in plate. Though the M-EMAT possesses high-order harmonics excitation ability in nature, its conventional way can only generate a fundamental component of SH0 mode. The analytical modeling was performed in this study to releasing the ability of M-EMAT in generating odd harmonics of SH0 mode. First, the inaccurate conditions of magnetic fields for relative permeability calculation in the existing model are corrected in the proposed model. Second, the error of the existing model in predicting the spectrum of the SH0 mode generated in Nickel plate is estimated. Third, numerical solutions are provided by the improved model to examine the key factors governing the ability of M-EMAT in generating odd harmonics of SH0 mode. The conclusions demonstrated that the intensity ratio (H-S/H-D) of static and dynamic magnetic fields is adjusted below 1 and the ability of M-EMAT in generating odd harmonics of SH0 mode can be activated. The normalized amplitude of 3rd harmonics decays exponentially with the increase of H-S/H-D, which is independent of geometrical parameters of M-EMAT. The improved model can effectively optimize excitation parameters of M-EMAT and generate odd harmonics of SH0 mode in plate.

Empirical formulas for predicting the energy attenuation behavior of primary stress waves in 1D composite chain of viscoelastic spheres SCIE

Abstract :

One-dimensional composite chain of viscoelastic spheres are potential candidates for novel impact buffers. Understanding the energy attenuation behavior of primary stress waves in the composite chain of viscoelastic spheres is the premise for high-performance impact buffers design. Although the current research included viscoelasticity into the motion equations of spheres, most of them were limited to homogeneous chains. Moreover, the models of discrete system could not give the explicit expressions of the key factors governing the energy attenuation of primary stress waves. The absence of explicit formulas for the key factors hindered efficient optimization design of impact buffers constructed by one-dimensional composite chain of viscoelastic spheres. In this study, empirical formulas for predicting the input amplitude, the attenuation coefficient of the contact force and the transmission coefficient at the interface were constructed. Multivariate nonlinear regression method and dimensional constraint were applied to ensure that all the empirical formulas only employ the impact velocity and the parameters of the used spheres as independent variables. Intermediate factor was introduced for individual key factor to evaluate the accuracy of the empirical formula. Though the groups of empirical formulas have degraded performance in the low range of the intermediate factors, their accuracy in quantitatively predicting the energy attenuation behavior of the stress waves in one-dimensional composite chain of viscoelastic spheres deserves satisfactory.

Abstract :

Quantitative characterization of tensile stress in electroplated nickel coatings on the copper substrate with the thickness range of 2.809 mu m to 35.654 mu m in the elastic stage was experimentally performed with a magnetic incremental permeability (MIP) sensor in the study. Firstly, a differential mutual-inductance sensor based on the parallel excitation of bifilar co-directional coil was proposed. With the proposed sensor, multiple signals including high-frequency eddy current (HFEC), tangential magnetic field strength, and magnetic incremental permeability butterfly curve (MIPBC) could be measured synchronously and eight typical magnetic parameters were obtained from experimental signals. Then, four parameters including the peak height of MIPBC, amplitude at cross point of MIPBC, difference frequency of HFEC, and sum frequency component of HFEC were selected to quantitatively characterize tensile stress. Experimental results showed that the four parameters depended on tensile stress and showed a parabolic trend. The parameters of the parabolic equation varied with nickel coating thickness. Finally, a polynomial surface fitting method based on the combination of the factors of thickness and tensile stress were derived with the selected four parameters and the coefficient of determination R2 was higher than 0.9. The further comparison between theoretical results and predicted stress confirmed that the proposed MIP sensor could realize the quantitative detection of tensile stress in different nickel coatings.

本发明公开了一种基于多通道微磁传感器的钢板均匀性评价方法,传感器主要由U型电磁铁、多通道磁信号检测组件、封装外壳和滚轴构成。滚轴相对待测钢板滚动,以保持传感器与钢板间的提离距离保持恒定。传感器基于微磁原理,各通道的磁信号检测组件可同步检测钢板表面的3类微磁信号(切向磁场、巴克豪森噪声和增量磁导率),利用微磁信号特征参量沿扫查路径的分布成像结果,基于变异系数、四分位距、图像均匀度和分形维数等四种统计特征参数,对钢板表面磁特性、微观组织及残余应力均匀性进行无损评价。

本发明公布了一种磁弹信号特征参数对索力的定量表征能力综合评价方法。首先,基于磁弹信号特征参数对索力F和温度T的归一化灵敏度,计算灵敏度的当量系数S;其次,计算所有温度条件下加载和卸载过程中线性拟合确定系数的平均值La;再次,计算所有温度条件下拟合曲线的滞回误差的平均值Ha;然后,计算索力增量分辨能力平均值Da;最后,利用评价指标M对磁弹信号特征参数进行综合评价。磁弹特征参数的综合评价指标M值越大,其对索力的表征能力越好。该方法有助于磁弹索力表征新参数的发现和提取,以提升脉冲磁弹法对斜拉桥索索力的检测能力。本发明提取了四个新特征参数,用于实现斜拉桥索力的定量表征。

本发明公开了一种金属长导丝式温度和应力检测双功能传感器,利用局部多处折弯的回绕型金属长导丝既作为超声导波的传播载体,又作为电涡流激励和接收元件。在金属丝中传播的超声导波遇到局部折弯反射体时将产生模态转换和反射,同一模态超声导波在相邻两个折弯反射体产生的反射信号的传播时间差和两个折弯反射体之间金属丝的平均温度相关。通过在回绕型金属长导丝中设置多个折弯反射体实现多个位置点的温度测量。本发明内容提供的双功能传感器,可以应用于高温变载服役条件下金属结构表面的温度分布测量及应力检测。

本发明公开了一种高空间分辨率的电磁无损检测方法,属于无损检测技术领域。将微米尺寸的无磁闭合线圈制备于原子力显微镜探针尖端或悬臂梁上构成磁力传感器感应元件,来感测探针周边的耦合磁场(背景磁场和待测样品磁场)。磁场作用下磁力传感器会引起原子力显微镜悬臂梁发生偏转,再利用原子力显微镜的光电探测系统测量悬臂梁的垂直方向上的转角,即可计算出磁力矩,再设置合适的滤波器,进而解耦测得待测样品磁场。所述的电磁无损检测方法具有高空间分辨率、背景磁场抑制检测等优点,可以实现铁磁材料的漏磁、巴克豪森噪声等电磁无损测量。
