Carbon dioxide emissions of "Belt and Road Initiative" countries account for one-third of the global value. China's direct investment in "Belt and Road Initiative" countries has a significant impact on their carbon dioxide emissions. This paper studies the effect of China's direct investment on carbon dioxide emissions in "Belt and Road Initiative" countries from 2003 to 2017. We apply a panel quantile model and the MCMC optimisation method to estimate the parameters. Then, 67 "Belt and Road Initiative" countries are divided into two groups to compare the different impacts of China's direct investment on their carbon dioxide emissions. The empirical results show that China's direct investment has a negative impact on the carbon dioxide emissions of "Belt and Road Initiative" countries no matter the sample is grouped or not. In the group of high-income countries, every 1% increase in Chinese investment reduces their carbon dioxide emissions by 0.04%. In the low-income group, for every 1% increase in China's direct investment, the national carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by 0.02%. Thus, it is suggested that China should further strengthen investment cooperation with "Belt and Road Initiative" countries in the future to promote global carbon dioxide emission reduction.

This study aims to model the temporal and spatial characteristics of end-of-life (EOL) power batteries from electric vehicles (EVs) in China. A Stanford estimation model is used, assuming that the lifetime of power batteries obeys a Weibull distribution. We collected the sales data for two types of power batteries used in four types of EVs from 2009 to 2018 in mainland China and predicted the sales data from 2019 to 2030 according to the Chinese government's plan. The results present a complete picture of EOL batteries in China: (1) the generation of retired power batteries in China is predicted from 2020 to 2036, including 112 k tonnes in 2020 and 708 k tonnes in 2030; (2) the potential economic value of retired batteries for echelon and recovery utilization is analyzed; and (3) the generation of retired power batteries in 20 provinces was estimated and compared with their collection station numbers. Considering the weight of different batteries and the service life increase caused by technology upgrades, our predictions for the quantity of retired batteries are lower and more accurate than others' predictions. Owing to global climate change and increased environmental pollution, China faces the dual responsibility of reducing CO2 emissions and controlling PM2.5 pollution. This study compares the spatial characteristics of PM2.5 concentrations and CO2 emissions using 10 km x 10 km grid data. The increase and decrease of CO2 emissions and PM2.5 concentrations are divided into four quadrants, which indicates four different conditions. Then, spatial autocorrelation method is conducted to analysis the spatial relationships. The empirical results show that (1) In the four quadrants, the increase of CO2 emissions and the decrease of PM2.5 concentrations accounted for the highest proportion (25.9%). (2) The spatial differences in CO2 emissions are large, but the PM2.5 concentrations show strong spatial aggregation. (3) China's three major urban agglomerations contain more than half of the areas in which both CO2 emissions and PM2.5 concentrations increased, and the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration exhibits the best synergistic reduction effect. By contrast, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration has the worst synergistic reduction of CO2 emissions and PM2.5 concentrations. (4) At the urban level, as a typical city in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, Tianjin's overreliance on heavy chemical industries has led to co-increases in its CO2 emissions and PM2.5 concentrations. Shaoxing and Jiangmen, in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration, are among the few cities where CO2 emissions and PM2.5 concentrations have both been reduced. Finally, this paper suggests some policy implications of these findings.

选取福建标准砂和滹沱河细砂,利用空心圆柱扭剪仪开展了一系列不同初始静孔隙水压力条件下的不排水循环扭剪试验和单调扭剪试验,着重探讨初始静孔隙水压力对超静孔隙水压力发展及其不排水抗剪强度的影响。试验结果表明:初始静孔隙水压力对超静孔隙水压力的发展产生显著的影响,从而影响砂土的静动力剪切特性。具体地,在不排水循环剪切过程中,初始静孔隙水压力越大,其超静孔隙水压力发展和变形发展越快;在不排水单调剪切过程中,初始静孔隙水压力越大,在砂土剪胀阶段产生负超静孔隙水压力越大,从而使砂土的强度显著提高。基于试验结果,初步探讨了初始静孔隙水压力对超静孔隙水压力及静动力剪切特性的影响机理。研究表明,研究地下水位以下...

With the development of economy, some industries may increasingly adjust and shift between countries or regions. Industrial shifting often manifests itself in the form of investment and trade activities between relevant countries or regions. Industrial shifting also accompanies with the flow of implied energy, which ultimately affects carbon emissions. Carbon emissions are closely related to energy consumption, energy conservation and emission reduction, and have become a hot topic for scholars to study. The existence of carbon shifting has made it a controversial issue. Therefore, this paper reviews the impact of international industrial shift on China's carbon emissions, including the connotation of industrial shift, the main ways that the international industrial shift has impacts on China's carbon emissions, the way to determine such impacts, the ultimate impacts and the policy inspiration gained. It is aiming at providing theoretical support for China's goal of improving economic and environmental cooperation. © 2019, China National Chemical Information Center. All right reserved.

Energy consumption plays a significant role in the integration process of Beijing- Tianjin-Hebei economic belt. This paper compares energy situation of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt and Tokyo-to metropolitan area. The results show there are some differences between Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt and Tokyo-to metropolitan area: first, the proportion of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt in China is lower than the proportion of Tokyo-to metropolitan area in Japan; second, energy intensity of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt experiences a trend of descending, while it holds stable in Tokyo-to metropolitan area; third, energy structure of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt has a serious reliance on coal, whereas, in Tokyo-to metropolitan area, consumption of oil took the main proportion of energy structure, consumption of renewable energy increasing constantly. Based on our findings, we present some policy implications for energy save in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic belt. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In this work, we demonstrate the application of water vapor doped indium oxide, alloyed with transition metal element M (IMO), as highly transparent conductive oxide (TCO) films incorporated in bifacial silicon heterojunction (SHJ) solar cells. By adding water vapor and oxygen gas into sputtering gas mixture, both electrical and optical properties of IMO film can he improved significantly. IMO films are characterized by sheet resistivity, Hall mobility and carrier density, crystallinity, and spectral transmittance. Finally, we obtained a 0.64 mA/cm(2) gain in J(SC) with optimal water vapor doped IMO film on n-side of SHJ cell, resulting in a 0.31% increase in solar cell conversion efficiency.

Biodiesel is a renewable and environmentally beneficial energy which has a variety of raw materials. Waste cooking oil (WCO) as one of the feedstocks has advantages not only in the environmental aspect, but also in the economy. With the increasing attention on the use of WCO for biodiesel production, some drawbacks are encountered as well. This paper aims at using SWOT analysis to find out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of WCO as a raw material for biodiesel production. Results show strengths including guaranteed food security, energy security, and positive impact on the environment as well as offering direct and indirect jobs. The weaknesses include complex production process, low recovery rate of WCO and high standards demand for WCO as a raw material. Biodiesel produced from WCO is capable of dealing with the increasing concern of environmental protection and the demand for renewable energy. Moreover, governments have been making laws and regulations to support its development. These mentioned above are all the opportunities with the use of biodiesel. Lack of efficient economic incentive, other energy sources competitors and a small market for biodiesel can be threats for its development. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Utilization of recyclable resources not only contributes to resource conservation, but also to the reduction of environmental pollution. The statistics on recyclable resources provides effective data support for the promotion of waste recycling and utilization. However, the research and practice concerning recyclable resources statistics are still at initial stage. By investigating and analysing the statistical status quo of Beijing's recyclable resources production and recycling, this study pointed out problems such as undefined statistical types, incomplete statistical scope, nonstandard statistical methods, absence of supervision, and low integration of statistical resources among different departments. Based on the problems mentioned above, the implications for recyclable resources management were discussed. Establishing and issuing recycling catalogue, standardizing the statistical methods and process, building a sharing mechanism for the data monitoring, innovating the data collection method, and establishing statistical supervision system and appraisal mechanism are suggested to improve the recyclable resources management. © 2018 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
