Experimental study of water drop freezing process on cryogenic cold surface SCIE

To investigate the impacts of cold surface temperature and wet air state on the freezing process and phenomena of a single water drop, quantitative measurements were carried out at various cold plate surface temperatures ranging from -165 degrees C to -30 degrees C. The covered cold surface temperature range were further divided into ordinary-low temperature group (-70 degrees C - -30 degrees C) and cryogenic temperature group (-165 degrees C - -100 degrees C). It was found that the cold surface temperature has an obviously effect on the drop freezing completion time, and it decreases with the decrease of the cold plate surface temperature. In comparison to the diameter change ratio and area change ratio, the height change ratio of a drop before and after freezing is more affected by cold surface temperature. The freezing front grows upward along the cold surface, gradually changes from convex to concave and the appearance of tip singularity indicates the completion of freezing. The internal temperature change of water drops is greatly influenced by air temperature and cold plate surface temperature, though it will finally tend to be stable. These findings can enrich understanding and analyzing water drop freezing phenomena under different cold surface temperature conditions, especially under cryogenic conditions.

Frost deposition phenomena on cryogenic cold surfaces are receiving more and more attention from both researchers and various industries. However, frost formation on fins of cryogenic temperature has been not touched. Therefore, an experimental system of frost deposition on straight cylindrical fins with fin base temperature as low as -190 degrees C under natural convection conditions was established and a series of frost formation experiments under various conditions were carried out to analyze the characteristics and influence factors of frost formation. The results show that due to the change of frost formation mechanism, the frost formation on the fin is greatly different under different temperature ranges. The distribution of the frost layer thickness on the fins at cryogenic temperature is more uneven along both the fin axial and circumferential directions, and this characteristic is more significant in the early frost stage. The frost formation mechanism changes not only with the base temperature, but also along the fin length when the base temperature is low enough. For low fin base temperatures, say -190 degrees C, liquid air appears at the fin base, which will lead to no frost in the near-fin-base region for a long time, and lowering the fin base temperature will decrease frost layer thickness. The size of the near-fin-base region increases as the fin base temperature decreases. In addition, increasing air relative humidity or air temperature without changing other conditions will accelerate frost formation. The results also show that fin materials strongly affect the distribution of frost layer on fins.

基于纳米Si02的透明疏水表面制备与抑霜性能研究

在自然对流条件下对竖直放置的透明超疏水表面和无修饰玻璃表面可视化结霜研究.结果表明,纳米二氧化硅在表面形成了几百纳米的纳米聚集团,使得表面凹凸不平,这种结构与荷叶表面的均有类似的微纳粗糙结构,制备出的表面最大接触角为153.1°,表面具有超疏水特性;在不同粒径下研究发现随着纳米二氧化硅粒径的降低其接触角是逐渐增大的;涂层会对表面透射率产生影响,15nm下的表面透射率仅降低8.86%;粒径越小制作出的表面能够更有效的抑制霜层的增长,15nm的表面抑霜时间可延长至770s,相比没有涂层的表面延长了 165.5%.

Flow and heat transfer characteristics of oil-based drilling cuttings in a screw-driving spiral heat exchanger were numerically simulated. The influence of spiral tube rotation speed, Reynolds number of oil-based drilling cuttings, cross-sectional shape on flow and heat transfer characteristics were studied. The results show that with rotation speed increases, the heat transfer coefficient and outlet temperature of oil-based drilling cuttings all increase. In addition, when Reynolds number is less than 250, Nusselt number increases rapidly with the increase of Reynolds number, and Reynolds number has little influence on Nusselt number when it is more than 250. Besides, Nusselt number increases with the increase of curvature ratio di=D. In order to facilitate engineering design, a correlation for heat transfer of oil-based drilling cuttings flowing in the shell side of the heat exchanger is obtained. © 2021, Science Press. 利用化学及电化学方法将非贵金属催化剂石墨烯(rGO)和纳米MnO2依次负载到三维多孔不锈钢纤维毡(Stainless steel fiber felt,SSFF)集电体上制备微生物燃料电池(Microbial fuel cell,MFC)空气阴极.在增大空气阴极活化面积的同时有效减小接触阻抗.通过物理和电化学方式测试表征其形貌、氧还原特性.在MFC中的运行结果表明,负载5 mL还原性氧化石墨烯再浸渍生长MnO2的不锈钢纤维毡(rGO@MnO2-SSFF)空气阴极的最大功率密度(524.34 mW/m2)是不锈钢纤维毡阴极(58.21 mW/m2)的9倍.经过复合催化剂rGO@MnO2修饰之后的不锈钢纤维毡空气阴极可以应用于MFC并大幅改良SSFF空气阴极的氧还原催化性能.

There is not a specific technical proposal to be able to achieve a clear presentation of the complex mixing process between the primary and entrained flows within the steam ejector. In this study, a novel ejector model with species transport is proposed that can clearly elucidate how, when, where and to what extent the two streams mix. Systematic quantitative analysis toward the mixing of two streams is performed from the perspectives of mass, momentum and energy transfer. Further, the similarities and differences of the mixing process among three analytical perspectives are clarified. Key results revealed that the mixing mainly occurs at the nearby of the local mixing layer, and there are still some distances from the homogenous mixing state after the mixing chamber process, only up to 80.6% the mixing uniformity phi obtains. Additionally, the mixing layer follows a similar growth trajectory, and phi increases as mixing continues regardless of an analytical perspective. However, a much faster mixing is observed from the mass transfer perspective. Specifically, phi(M) (80.6%) is significantly larger than phi(V) (60.7%) and phi(E) (59.6%) at the mixing chamber outlet. It can be concluded that the essential mass mixing laws of the two streams are not necessarily achieving a complete replication whether from the perspective of momentum or energy transfer. These key findings provide a more in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the mixing process inside the ejector.
