In recent years, the escalating labor costs in agricultural production have emerged as a major concern. The use of inspection robots to achieve automated inspection of fruit and fruit bunches for ripeness not only enhances production efficiency and cost savings, but also simplifies the tasks for workers. To address this issue, an improved YOLOv7-based multi-task deep convolutional neural network (DCNN) detection model, called MTDYOLOv7, is proposed in this paper. Initially, the dataset labels were expanded to meet the requirements of multi-task classification. Two additional decoders were then added on the basis of YOLOv7 to detect tomato fruit clusters, fruit maturity and cluster maturity. Subsequently, the loss function was designed based on the characteristics of multi-task and the Scale-Sensitive Intersection over Union (SIoU) was used instead of Complete Intersection over Union (CIoU) to improve the model's recognition accuracy. Finally, to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm, tests were conducted on the cherry tomato dataset, and comparisons were made with common target detection algorithms, classification models, and cascade models. The experimental findings reveal that MTD-YOLOv7 achieved an overall score of 86.6% in multi-task learning, with an average inference time of 4.9 ms (RTX3080). It excels in simultaneous detection of cherry tomato fruits and bunches, fruit maturity, and bunch maturity, offering exceptional precision, rapid detection, and robust generalization capabilities. Its suitability extends to various applications, notably in inspection tasks.

在农田无线传感器网络监测应用中,由于环境遮挡与作物生长引起的信号多尺度效应造成网络链路质量不稳定,进而影响数据汇集性能.针对该情况,同时考虑到农田WSN的能量受限问题,提出了一种农田信道和能耗感知的机会路由优化方法.基于农田信道模型估计链路连通概率,建立节点机会转发能耗预测模型,根据不同机会转发路径的中继概率得出其转发能耗期望,在候选转发集构建与排序时同时考虑路径期望能耗和节点剩余能量,以提高节点间、路径间的能量均衡性能.通过仿真实验将改进机会路由算法与LCOR、IOP、IPOR-OE算法进行对比,结果显示:网络生命周期CECOR算法的网络生命周期约为LCOR的2.2倍、IPOR-OE的5.2倍、IOP的8.7倍,最大能耗均方差分别是LCOR的3/4、IPOR-OE和IOP的1/2.从结果可以看出,改进算法延长了网络生命周期,提高了网络节点间能耗均衡性能,有助于实现农田监测网络的长时间稳定工作,实现了预期研究目标.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) can achieve real-time data collection and transmission of environment, soil, meteorology, crop physiology and other information in agriculture. The data provided by WSN could be used for decision making and management, which is very important in precision agriculture. Wheat farmland wireless sensor network has the characteristics of wide coverage area, long planting period, inconvenient energy supply, and serious impact of crop environment on wireless signal transmission. Routing protocol is an important method to achieve long-term WSN monitoring by selecting an appropriate path with low energy consumption for data transmission. According to the phenomenon of uneven environment and channel parameters caused by intensive crop growth in farmland, a non-uniform clustering routing protocol based on effective energy consumption (UCEEC) was proposed in this work. The method combined with the characteristics of multi-path fading of farmland environment signals. The idea of image segmentation was introduced. Nodes with high similarity were divided into a cluster area by the dissimilarity between nodes in order to improve the intracluster communication performance. Meanwhile, a multi-hop path selection method between cluster-heads based on the estimation of two-hop effective energy consumption is designed. The energy consumption cost factor is calculated by the effective energy consumption and the average energy consumption within the cluster to achieve the minimum and balance of the overall energy consumption of the network. Simulation results show that, compared with the existing Maximum Residual Energy Based Routing (MREBR) protocol, minimum Energy Consumption Based Routing (MEC) routing protocols, UCEEC improves the energy balance effect between nodes, prolongs the network life cycle, and realizes efficient energy utilization of wireless sensor network data collection in the complex environment of wheat field.

This study proposed an integrated approach to evaluate the efficiency of forced-air cooling of apples stacked on pallets. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling was used to evaluate the cooling rate, uniformity, moisture loss, and energy consumption during precooling of apples. Experiments were conducted to quantify the incidence of chilling injury. A reasonable increase in cooling rate and uniformity was obtained with an increase in air-inflow rate to 2.31 L s(-1) kg(-1); any further increase in air-inflow rate will lead to a relatively low increase in cooling rate and uniformity, but a significant increase in energy consumption and cooling injury. An exponential relationship exists between fan power (P-w) and pressure differential (Delta P) as well as between total fan energy consumption (E-c) and air-inflow rate (E-c = hx(k)). Finally, the mass loss of fruit is primarily influenced by cooling time rather than air-inflow rate. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd and IIR. All rights reserved.

In this work, we study how different air-inflow velocities affect the apple-temperature distribution during forced-convection cooling of individual apples by simultaneously modeling airflow and heat transfer. In general, an increase in airflow velocity increases the cooling rate and heat transfer fluxes across the apple surface and decreases cooling time. The results show that a reasonable increase in cooling rate is obtained with an increase in airflow velocity to 2.5m/s; any further increase in airflow velocity simply wastes energy because it leads to a relatively low increase in cooling and heat transfer fluxes across the apple surface. By comparing the temperature simulated with and without accounting for respiratory heat, the maximum temperature difference is approximate to 0.033 K during cooling. Therefore, respiratory heat has a negligible effect on the temperature variations of fruit. The model was verified by comparing its results with those of experiments. The predicted results are consistent with the measured results. Practical ApplicationsTo ensure the quality and safety of horticultural products and extend their storage and shelf life across the entire cold chain, a critical step in the postharvest cold chain is the rapid precooling after harvest to remove field heat. In this work, we investigate how to improve the cooling rate and minimize the cooling time during forced-convection cooling of apples. In addition, the effect of respiratory heat on temperature variations of fruit is also studied. This research provides not only a more detailed understanding of flow distribution and temperature variations of fruit during cooling, but also a reliable theoretical basis for minimizing unnecessary energy consumption during forced-convection cooling of produce.

The current packaging designs and the efficiency of forced-air cooling (FAC) of fresh produce can be considerably improved by comprehensively comparing and evaluating the existing packaging designs. This study presents a market survey that studies samples of typical apple cartons used in China. Furthermore, by combining experiment and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling, a novel integral approach is proposed to evaluate cooling rate and uniformity, energy efficiency, and fruit quality (including safety) as a result of FAC for different ventilated-packaging designs. The process uses CFD to simulate the three-dimensional spatio-temporal distributions of airflow and product temperatures during precooling. In addition, experiments on chilling injury and mass loss are also reported. The results show that the optimum fresh-fruit packaging design depends on the product size and the location of the product and tray inside the packaging. For all existing package designs, the optimal air-inflow velocity is found to lie in the range 0.4-1 m/s (or 3-5 L s(-1) kg(-1)), any further increase in airflow rate simply wastes energy because it leads to a relatively low increase in cooling rate and uniformity. The level of chilling injury and mass loss per box show a different trend with increasing air-inflow velocity. The accuracy of the CFD simulations was confirmed by a good agreement with experiments. The maximum root mean-square error and mean absolute percentage error for produce temperature are 0.727 degrees C and 18.69%, respectively. This research unveils the advantages and disadvantages of the various existing packaging designs and provides a reliable theoretical and experimental basis for achieving an integral evaluation of the performance of FAC. In this work, to improve the rate at which cool air ventilates the tail of a refrigerated compartment and thereby reduces the temperature difference between the front and rear of the cargo area, we increase the length of an air conduit in the direction of the air outlet of the refrigerating unit. In addition, minimizing the cooling time during transportation reduces energy consumption and improves the economics of cold-chain transport. To address this problem, we created a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics model of a transport compartment and used potatoes as test cargo. The unsteady shear stress transport - model was adopted to simulate air flow and heat transfer inside the compartment. The results show that the additional air conduit inside the compartment should significantly improve the spatial uniformity of the temperature inside the cargo area. The results of the simulation are consistent with experiments. Practical ApplicationsAlthough cold-chain transport must ensure a constant low-temperature environment for perishable foods, more important is the requirement to maintain temperature uniformity in the cargo area. This is the basis by which the quality, safety and shelf life of perishable food are ensured. In this study, we have investigated how to minimize the cooling time during transportation in order to reduce energy consumption and improve the rate at which cool air ventilates the tail of a refrigerated compartment. This research provides reliable theoretical arguments for enhancing temperature uniformity in the cargo enclosure of refrigeration trucks and for reducing unnecessary energy consumption during transportation.
