Shear behavior of innovative high performance joints for precast concrete deck panels SCIE

Precast concrete deck panels (PCDPs) are gradually applied in accelerated bridge construction (ABC) to achieve the goal of the fully prefabricated bridge. The joints between PCDPs are vulnerable under complicated stress state. The mechanical properties, feasibility of construction, and durability of joints are the focus to be investigated. This study proposed an innovative joint for PCDPs with high performance materials, including ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) and carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The shear behavior of the novel joint was investigated on full-scale PCDPs via the static monotonic experiment. In addition, the 3D finite element numerical models were established to study the shear behavior, failure mechanism and influencing parameters of the proposed joints in PCDPs. Furthermore, the analytical models to predict the shear capacity of the proposed joints were developed. The results show that the proposed joints exhibit more reasonable failure mode and possess superior deformation ability compared to conventional joints. The initial stress and anchorage distance of CFRP tendons have obvious effect on the shear capacity. The proposed analytical model is able to accurately evaluate the shear capacity of the high performance joints for PCDPs. This study offers a novel joint type and provides guidance for the design of PCDPs.

Transverse seismic response of diamond-shaped pylon in cable-stayed bridge: Experiment and analysis SCIE

The diamond-shaped pylons have been widely used in engineering practice, due to their cost effectiveness and appealing aesthetics, particularly for the cable-stayed bridges with large clearance. However, the diamondshaped pylons have both inward and outward inclinations, which may result in complicated seismic behavior when subjected to earthquake excitations. To this end, the seismic performance of a typical diamond-shaped pylon in the transverse direction is investigated in this paper. A reduced-scale specimen of the diamondshaped pylon was tested under cyclic quasi-static load to evaluate the damage patterns and the hysteretic responses. The numerical models of the diamond-shaped pylon were developed and then verified against the experimental results. The effects of the geometric configurations, loading protocols, and stiffness of crossbeam on the seismic performance of the diamond-shaped pylon are assessed based on the numerical results of parametric studies. The test results indicate that the plastic hinges were formed at the diamond-shaped pylon legs near the middle intersections. The following parametric analyses imply that the failure modes and damage regions would be changed with the pylon shapes, stiffness of lower and middle crossbeams, and loading protocols.

Vision monitoring of distress has emerged as a new trend in intelligent transportation infrastructure systems, including roads and bridges. Recently, transfer learning methods and lightweight networks have been used to realize efficient distress identification without large amount of human-labor work. This paper proposed an engineering approach that integrated transfer learning with lightweight models to classify and detect concrete bridge distresses. Two datasets named Distress Dataset of Asphalt Pavement (DDAP) with 2500 asphalt pavement distresses images and Distress Dataset of Concrete Bridge (DDCB) with 906 concrete bridge distresses images were used. The lightweight models MobileNet and MobileNet-SSD were employed to conduct 6 comparative experiments for exploring the model performance with different transfer learning modes (Mode I and II) and procedures (one-step and two-step procedure) in classification and detection tasks. Based on the comparison of the results, the optimum model for two tasks was respectively recognized. For classification task, the model directly transferred specific parameters of partial convolution layers from ImageNet-based model achieved the highest accuracy of 97.8%. For detection task, the two-step transfer learning model using an intermediate transfer learning step trained by DDAP reached a mean average precision of 87.16%. The proposed approach has the application potential for practical road inspection work in intelligent transportation infrastructure maintenance.

Bayesian inference methods typically require a considerable amount of computation time in the calculation of forward models. This limitation restricts the application of Bayesian inference methods for the parameter identification of complex engineering problems. We propose a novel likelihood-free Bayesian inference method for structural parameter identification. An adaptive Gaussian surrogate model (GSM) was integrated with the transitional Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method for Bayesian inference. The log-likelihood function was approximated with GSM and the transitional MCMC method was used to generate the posterior distribution samples. A response reconstruction technique was combined with the likelihood-free Bayesian inference method for the parameter identification. Both numerical studies and experimental studies were conducted to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. The results showed that the proposed method could be used to estimate the posterior probabilities of unknown structural parameters. Additionally, the proposed method was more efficient than the delayed rejection adaptive Metropolis and Gibbs sampling methods.

Lost data neural semantic recovery framework for structural health monitoring based on deep learning SCIE

Structural condition perception is a crucial step in structural health monitoring (SHM). Random loss or corruption of sensing data seriously hinders the reliability of the monitoring system. This paper discusses the recovery of randomly lost data in SHM from the perspective of conditional probability generation. A novel data-driven neural semantic recovery framework is proposed, transforming data recovery into a conditional probability modeling problem. This framework uses deep fully convolutional neural networks with an encoder-decoder architecture to capture the overall semantic features of the vibration data, allowing accurate modeling of the behavior of complex conditional probability distributions. Advanced techniques such as dense connections, skip connections, and residual connections significantly improved the network's parameter utilization and recovery performance. Moreover, a novel perceptual loss function is proposed, enabling the network to integrate data loss patterns effectively. The proposed network can be trained end-to-end in a self-supervised manner and perform efficient inferences. Based on the long-term measured acceleration response under the ambient excitation of a pedestrian bridge, the recovery performance and robustness of the model are sufficiently verified and evaluated. The network exhibits excellent recovery accuracy and robustness, even if the loss ratio is as high as 90%. Preliminary evaluation results show that the proposed model can be seamlessly transferred to scenarios with continuous data loss without retraining the network. Finally, the application prospects of the framework in modal identification and anomaly monitoring of structural conditions are demonstrated.

Multiple vibration modes of an engineering structure might be excited by earthquake ground motions. Multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) are widely used to control these multi-mode vibrations. However, in the commonly used MTMD system, the mass element in each tuned mass damper (TMD) is normally assumed to be the same. To improve the performance of MTMDs for seismic-induced vibration control, non-uniform MTMD masses are adopted in the present study to improve the mass utilization of TMD, and a location factor is proposed to determine the best location of each TMD in the MTMD system. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through numerical study. The results show that the proposed method effectively reduces the seismic responses of the structure induced by multiple vibration modes.

本发明涉及一种中高烈度区预制装配式铁路站台雨棚构造及施工方法,属于结构工程技术领域。其由预制雨棚墩柱和预制雨棚梁组成,通过钢管混凝土承插和UHPC灌浆波纹管组合连接的方式保证节点连接的抗震性能;预制雨棚墩柱由预留钢管混凝土、墩柱纵筋、墩柱箍筋共同构成;预制雨棚梁由预留孔槽和预埋波纹管组成;其中墩柱纵筋的拼接数量为其纵向受力钢筋总量的1/3左右,界面处抗弯承载力由预留的钢管混凝土和拼接的钢筋共同提供;该节点的连接方式在满足高烈度地区桥梁抗震需求的同时,可以保证震后墩柱塑性铰区域较小损伤。本发明可满足高烈度区车站装配式雨棚梁柱节点的抗震需求、确保施工质量的同时,极大加快雨棚的建造速度和施工便捷性。

本发明公开了一种中高烈度区预制墩柱‑承台承插式节点连接方法与构造,属于桥梁工程领域,包括:预制墩柱、预制承台、连接管道和连接钢筋,利用高性能连接材料灌注连接为整体;为保证连接强度,预制墩柱插入预制承台的承插槽中,通过连接管道内部的连接钢筋进行连接,同时将高性能连接材料灌注至承插槽与预制墩柱之间的空隙,保证其连接强度。本发明以承插式节点连接方式为主,结合金属波纹管或预应力连接方式,通过预制桥梁墩柱及承台等重要构件,保证施工质量和节点抗震性能要求同时,加快施工进度,减小承台高度,降低工程造价,可解决中高烈度地区桥梁施工进度慢,传统承插方法承台高度大、造价高的问题。

一种自复位旋转放大摩擦耗能阻尼器属于建工领域。摩擦阻尼器包括外约束钢板、齿轮、扇形板体、齿条、摩擦板、摩擦凹槽、扭簧和SMA碟簧。本发明基于啮合齿轮的“杠杆效应”,可以将较小的变形放大,使得阻尼器在小震情况下也能实现高效耗能;同时,由于变形放大,使得阻尼器的整体耗能增加,因此能够在较低正压力下实现期望的摩擦耗能,从而可以克服较高正压力带来的摩擦接触面磨损过大的问题;阻尼器采用了弧形摩擦凹槽和形状记忆合金(SMA)碟簧,实现了变摩擦耗能,进一步提高了阻尼器的耗能能力;阻尼器安装有扭转弹簧,可以通过设置不同的预应力,从而实现自复位的功能。
